What is Rural Tourism

Rural tourism alludes to all tourism exercises in a rural range. Rural tourism consists of many things which include agricultural activities, chalets, hotels, small and medium businesses, historical landmarks, and forest exploration which potential tourists would tend to research before planning to go on a holiday in that specific rural region. According to (Milenkovic & Utvic 2013; Rid, Ezeuduii & ProbstlHaider, 2014), rural tourism is an important industry that contributes to the preservation of national heritage, culture, and has been recognized as a diversification strategy to improve the rural economy in remote areas (as cited in Fong, Lo, Songan & Nair, 2016). The tourism industry has become highly concentrated over the years especially when new entrants have arrived trying to get the biggest market share in the industry. locals are more interested in touring overseas or abroad instead of supporting their local and rural tourism locations. Many factors are at play here from both the tourists' perspective and also the rural tourism companies. Both sides must play a role into ensuring that rural tourism in their areas are being preserved effectively and efficiently.
